overview
Universal
Studios is less sprawling than Disney parks feel. It is easy
to navigate and find where you want to go. The
park also has far more scary rides than Disney which is more
appealing for teenagers and less appealing for young children.
Entrance to the park is through Universal's CityWalk complex.
This is a large area for shopping, dining, and nightlife.
Universals other park, Islands Of Adventure, is also accessible
through CityWalk.
The
movie theme of the park is evident everywhere with movie themed
attractions, rides, play areas and simulated movie experiences
(Twister and Jaws). What really makes Universal different
from Disney parks however is the mood within the park. While
Disney parks are designed with young children well catered
for, Universal is less that way. Teenagers and adults are
very well catered for at Universal studios but there are far
more rides that are either too scary or too intense for young
children.
Universal
Studios has also not managed to come up with a FASTPASS style
system that works as well. Universal Express creates bigger
lines at times and is not allocated as well as FASTPASS. It
is good to have a line jumping system but Universal Express
needs further refinement.
