MGM
has a lot of headliner attractions. The main attraction is
the brilliant Tower of Terror, but Start Tours, Rock 'n' Roller
Coaster, Backlot Tour and Muppetvision 3-D are all headliners.
The evening show is also spectacular, providing more reason
to spend a day at MGM.
The
park is not split into defined areas like Magic Kingdom or
Animal Kingdom. There are however roads such as Mickey Avenue
that can be used to help navigate the park easily. The backlot
sets that dominate the park make it look more like a city
than a theme park when you arrive. The huge studios housing
attractions in Mickey avenue also create a city feel.
In
addition to thrill rides the park also houses attractions
relating to film and television. Some of these are information
such as the Lucy Tribute, the Animation Studio tour and the
Walt Disney exhibit. Others are more interactive including
Millionaire and Sounds Dangerous. These attractions allow
time to slow down and take a break from the heat, which can
be harsh on the parks city like streets.
MGM,
like its rival Universal Studios, is less suited to young
children than Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom. The thrill
rides are too extreme and the film nostalgia can prove to
boring for them. It is also easier for young children to be
excited by the themes of the other parks rather than recreations
of city streets.
MGM does have a lot to offer though, including maybe the best
attraction in Orlando and almost certainly the best show.
There is more to do than in say Animal Kingdom and there are
plenty of chances to get out of the heat too.
