Tom Sawyer Island and Fort Clemens offer plenty of adventure for kids
and freedom for children and adults alike. The frontier atmosphere is
a delight for children. A trip to the island is a must for any group that
includes children, providing them with much needed run-loose time.
Families
should plan to leave at least half an hour, probably more, for this attraction.
To reach the island it is necessary to ride a raft. You may have to stand
in line to board, but these rafts are fairly efficient and the escape
is worth the ride.
If
you are with a group of adults, the island isn't a must, but may be pleasant
if spirits are flagging.
