overview

Orlando has four great water parks. Disney has Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Universal has Wet 'n Wild and there is also Water Mania. Out of the four parks the Disney two have the best theming. Typhoon Lagoon is themed after a typhoon has hit and Blizzard Beach is bizarrely themed on a ski resort. Wet 'n Wild and Water Mania have no theme. Water Mania is well landscaped however. Wet 'n Wild and Blizzard Beach have the most extreme slides, Water Mania is the least crowded and is the the only one with a stationary surfing wave. Typhoon Lagoon is the only park offering snorkeling with fish.

Typhoon Lagoon

One Day Park Pass:
Age 10+ $32.86
Age 3-9 $26.50 Age 0-3 free

Typhoon Lagoon is one of two Disney owned water parks in Orlando. The park is themed on a tropical town that has been ravaged by a typhoon. The park has ten water slides. These are split into two speed slides, four corkscrew slides, three tube rides and a children's rapids ride. Compared to the other Disney park 'Blizzard Beach' this park has less extreme slides but a superior young children's area. It also has the best surf and wave pools in Orlando. If you want a thrilling water park day at Disney you are better off at Blizzard Beach, but if you want a less extreme day and have young children Typhoon Lagoon is more appealing. It is worth noting that Typhoon Lagoon also has far less concrete and far more shade than Blizzard Beach to help make it more relaxing.

Blizzard Beach

One Day Park Pass
:
Age 10+ $32.86
Age 3-9 $26.50 Age 0-3 free

Blizzard Beach is the second Disney water park in Orlando. It is themed on a ski resort, which although bizarre, provides a fun and interesting setting. The park has bigger and more exciting slides than Typhoon Lagoon. It is very comparable with the other extreme park Wet 'n Wild. The popularity of the parks slides makes it sensible to get to the park for its opening at peak times of the year. Lines are much shorter in the the first few hours of the day, but can build to frustrating levels from late morning and on through the afternoon.

Wet N Wild

One Day Park Pass
:
Age 10+ $33.87 Age 3-9 $27.51 Age 0-3 free

Wet 'n Wild is comparable with Blizzard Beach as the best water slide park in Orlando. It also has the second best (to Typhoon Lagoon) surf and wave pools in Orlando. It lacks Disney quality theming and is a little cluttered but has the big plus of opening much later. During the Summer the park is open until 11pm, the other three parks shut between 5pm and 8pm. This allows you to have a much longer day and provides a second chance at shorter lines at the end as well as the start of the day.

Water Mania

One Day Park Pass
:
Age 10+ $21.35 Age 3-9 $18.14 Age 0-3 free

Water Mania is a nicely landscaped park with cheaper entrance and less crowding than the other three parks. The parks slides are better than Typhoon Lagoon but not as big and exciting as the other two parks. The less crowding is very attractive at peak times of year which coupled with cheaper entrance makes Water Mania a great park for those not needing Disney theming or the most extreme slides. The parks unique attraction is a stationary surfing pool.
